Alfa Romeo 159 as a first car. Hi there ! It's been a year since I got my licence, so it's not like I'm an amazing driver. I have taken a liking to the Alfa Romeo 159. Because of the way taxation works in my country, it would be ideal if a car has a 2.0 engine tops. I'm a beginner so it's not like it isn't enough power or anything like that.
Alfa archivist Luigi Fusi classified these cars as 159M (Maggiorata: ‘increased’). Now fitted with massive scuttle air intakes feeding the hungry induction, the Alfa Romeo 158/159 series had at last reached its final form, running 42.6lbs psi supercharger pressure and delivering an absolute maximum of 425bhp at 9300rpm.
This was the era of the Type 158 and 159, a car that, as much as any other, epitomizes Alfa Romeo’s performance pedigree. The 158/159 was born in 1937, toward the end of Enzo Ferrari’s tenure at Alfa Romeo. At the time, Mercedes and Auto Union dominated the world of Grand Prix racing, with Alfa Romeo and Maserati trailing behind as outmoded The Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS is a beautiful car and what makes it look so good is the fact that it has a very classic swooping design. Not only that, but this beautiful Alfa Romeo model also has an interesting story behind it. Ghia, who designed many other well-known cars like the Ferrari 212 and Jaguar XK149 designed it. 1. It Still Looks Good. With its sculpted flanks, hood bulges and distinctive Alfa Romeo triangular grille, the Stelvio still looks fresh and different in a sea of luxury compact SUVs. The pros of a 156: - cheaper to buy. - slightly cheaper to run and more fun to drive (lighter car, just a little less powerful engines) Ordinarily, cars like this Alfa Romeo don't make it past customs and are either exported again or crushed. That's where things get interesting. Inside and outside of the 2009 Alfa Romeo 159 2.0 petrol wise: 159: 1.8mpi, 1.9jts, 2.2jts, 3.2jts and 1750tbi. brera: 2.2jts, 3.2jts, 1750tbi. The 159 is a better car. Anyone who thinks a 156 TS is better is dreaming. The 2.2 petrol engine in the 159 and Brera is excellent and far superior in performance and refinement than any 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 TS so I am not sure what the above poster who said the petrols were rubbish, is smoking.
Alfa offered the 159 Q4 saloon with the 2.4 JTDm turbodiesel engine, which offered near-40mpg average economy, but performance was only fair with 0-60mph in 8.3 seconds. gcYW8.
